Visualize Molecules & Crystals

This link will carry you to Dr. W. R. Salzman's web page at the University of Arizona, Chemistry Dept. Here you'll find images of molecules and crystals that you can rotate by clicking and moving your mouse cursor over the image.

You will need to download the RasMol (freeware) animation program. Click the link for the Molecular Viewing Information page and follow the instructions for Windows and for MAC.

For some of the simple molecules you may get a black screen or what appears to be a meaningless set of lines on a black background. Don't despair. Simply right-click (or whichever gives menu choices) the mouse to get a menu, click Display, then click Ball and Stick or Spacefill models.

Observe and interact with molecular animations for many different kinds of substances, including colors, pain killers, antibiotics, polymers and many more.
