Molecular Database Project: A World Wide Web-based project for storage & retrieval of chemical information 2D & 3D Molecular Structures and their synthesis, physical properties, safety properties and spectra.

This is a website that is intended chiefly for students taking an Organic Chemistry course so the scope of discussions and problems goes beyond that of Chem 102. It does offer excellent study and problem-solving opportunities to the highly motivated student. Viewing the animated molecular models will require JMol or Chime plug-ins for your browser. Directions of finding and downloading these free plug-ins are given in the site.

 Visualize Molecules & Crystals

This link will carry you to Dr. W. R. Salzman's web page at the University of Arizona, Chemistry Dept. Here you'll find images of molecules and crystals that you can rotate by clicking and moving your mouse cursor over the image.

You will need to download the RasMol (freeware) animation program. Click the link for the Molecular Viewing Information page and follow the instructions for Windows and for MAC.

For some of the simple molecules you may get a black screen or what appears to be a meaningless set of lines on a black background. Don't despair. Simply right-click (or whichever gives menu choices) the mouse to get a menu, click Display, then click Ball and Stick or Spacefill models.
